Job Summary
Provide leadership and professional expertise in the selection, acquisition, assessment and de-selection of print and electronic continuing resources.

Responsibilities
·       Manage subscriptions in all formats (including ordering, invoicing, claiming, receiving, monitoring expenditures, cancelling, troubleshooting, binding, etc.)
·       Manage access to subscriptions using the library’s integrated library systems.
·       Compile and compare subscription data re: cost, access, usage. Design and produce regular statistical reports as needed.
·       Student training and supervision.
·       Provide support for Materials Services Librarian as needed.

·       Demonstrated ability to resolve e-resource access problems
·       Ability to direct the work of others in projects and daily tasks

·       Familiarity with MARC, AACR2, RDA, OCLC strongly preferred
Required Experience
2+ years library related work experience, including 1 year supervisory experience required; experience with Serials, Acquisitions or e-resource management preferred.

Required Education
Requires associate’s degree; bachelor’s degree preferred.

MN Cataloging Internship: Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis

Research Library, Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis

The Research Library at the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis is seeking an Intern to assist with a cataloging project in our new cloud-based integrated library system. Duties include enhancing catalog record information, completing quality assurance checks of existing information, and possibly performing some copy and/or original cataloging.

The successful candidate will be expected to work 15-20 hours per week, between the hours of 8 and 5,Monday through Friday. The internship will last until December 31, 2014, and pays $17.50 per hour.

Qualifications:
Work in process towards an undergraduate degree. Coursework in progress toward a master's degree in Library and Information Science preferred.
Enrollment in an accredited MSLIS program preferred.

Coursework or work experience in cataloging or using and assigning metadata preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs.

DESCRIPTION: The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) seeks applicants for a Library Clerk to provide clerical
and customer service support for the Minnesota Historical Society Reference department and Gale Family Library, its
staff, volunteers, library patrons and other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services, registration desk
management, and other department clerical support.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 1) process and fill Interlibrary Loan (ILL) requests for public and academic libraries and
historical societies; 2) manage the Library registration desk operations; 3) provide clerical support for the Reference
department; 4) prepare the registration lobby, Weyerhaeuser and Hubbs microfilm rooms for public use; 5) process
orders for microfilm, coordinate the duplication of MNHS microfilm for sale to patrons and use copies for the Hubbs
Room, and 6) ensure accurate reporting for Copy Services financial operations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 High school diploma or equivalent, and three years of related clerical, secretarial, or administrative experience in a
professional office setting.
 Demonstrated ability to work on a team and lead others toward a common goal.
 Experience with standard office practices, procedures and equipment, including the practical application of English
composition to professional correspondence, keyboard speed, and accuracy.
 Demonstrated experience working with basic office software applications, including Word, Excel, Google docs
and sites, and Adobe.
 Strong customer service skills.
 Basic math skills for invoicing and creating financial accounts.
 Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing with staff, volunteers, and public in a positive,
friendly, and professional manner.
 Well-developed organizational and time management skills to direct office procedures and workflow; the ability to
schedule personal workload, to meet deadlines, and to work productively on projects despite distractions and
interruptions.
 Demonstrated ability adapt to new software programs, learn new skills, and be flexible in work load as needed in
order to meet program and staff’s need.
 Demonstrated ability to follow directions and effectively carry out complex oral or written instructions.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
 Experience working in a library.
 Knowledge of online catalog systems, especially OCLC (On Line Computer Library), Minitex, and MnPals and
experience with using these systems for searching and interlibrary loan processing.
 Experience managing volunteers.
 Knowledge of the Minnesota Historical Society Library and its operations.

Position Overview
This position is temporary and expected to be 15 months long - October 2014
The Visual Media Specialist will digitize original photographs, documents, artifacts, and videos, as well as assist in organizing headquarters’ art collection, in preparation for Cargill’s 150th Year Anniversary in 2015. 

Principal Accountabilities:
  • 40%: Prepare and organize archival originals in consultation with Archives’ staff, enter relevant metadata in databases, retrieve and return originals
  • 40%: Digitize originals using flatbed scanners, film scanners, digital SLRs, and analog to digital video converters, conduct post production editing of still scans, provide reference to digitized images as needed.
  • 20%: Tag headquarters artwork with RFID labels, update database, and perform data quality control.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Solid working knowledge of visual media software (Adobe Photoshop, Bridge, and Acrobat) and hardware (digital cameras, scanners, video players)
  • Understanding of database concepts and metadata. Familiarity with archival handling of artwork and photographic material
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Archival/curatorial/museum coursework or experience desired
  • 1 year experience in managing or using a digital asset management system that holds photography and online video assets
  • Broad understanding of technologies supporting conversion of analog still image and video to digital formats
