Copy Cataloging and Digital Services Coordinator

St. Catherine University, St. Paul campus, invites applications for a Copy Cataloging and Digital Services Coordinator to be responsible for the cataloging of the collection for both campus libraries. Cataloging: Cataloging for print and digital collections in CLICnet, WorldCat, and Digital Commons. Oversees the copy cataloging functions of the department staff and students. Creates standards, guidelines, and provides support to others in the department. Performs batch loads of records as needed. Digital Collections: Manages and maintains collections, series, and resources in the Digital Commons repository, Sophia. This position will input resources into the repository. This position is .75 FTE – 30 hours/week.
Responsibilities:
• Catalog of print, media, and electronic resources; includes batch-loading projects, retrospective work, and authority work.
• Prepare and maintain documentation of workflow, procedures, and guidelines for copy cataloging
• Stay abreast of issues, trends, changes, and innovations in the field of cataloging, metadata, institutional repositories
• Create metadata templates, organize series of records, and provide proper metadata to ensure universal discoverability of the research and creative works of the St. Catherine University community
• Supervise student assistants in cataloging and collection support tasks. Includes training in cataloging systems, institutional repository software, and digitization.
Required qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience and skill in cataloging and information organization.
• Supervisory experience.
• Advanced computer skills and experience with library tools and systems (e.g., discovery services).
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and provide leadership in the implementation of projects.
• Ability to work productively and collaboratively with a wide variety of library staff and users.
• Ability to work independently with precision, accuracy, efficiency, and appropriate attention to detail.
• Flexibility, vision, and the ability to thrive in a changing academic and library environment.
• The successful candidate must have the ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families and communities.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with digital collection services and resources, integrated library systems.
• Knowledge of institutional repository systems (particularly bepress’ Digital Commons).
• Some cataloging coursework completed.
