Hennepin County seeks Homework Hub volunteers
Hennepin County Library is looking for volunteers to work with youth after school on literacy and homework related projects - reading, math, history, language arts and more. Volunteers must have some experience with school age children and commit to working once a week at a Homework Hub location for a semester. Homework Hub is at the following libraries – Augsburg Park, Brookdale, Central, East Lake, Franklin, Hopkins, Hosmer, Northeast, Nokomis, North Regional and Sumner. Training is provided. A criminal background check is required.

MN Internship Posting: Preservation Internship, Hennepin County Library

The Preservation department with Hennepin County Library plays a vital role in ensuring the long-term viability of the Library’s print collections through repair and restoration measures, book binding, preservation photocopy, and other preservation methods. The Bindery/Preservation department also performs a consulting and educational function for staff on preservation matters
Commitment:
One semester, 6 to10 hours per week, September 2011 – December 2011.
Wage:
This is an unpaid position which could be for college credit or work experience.

Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis

Duties:
Duties may include the following:
• Preservation bookbinding
• Construction of preservation enclosures for library materials

Requirements:

Coursework and/or experience in book preservation helpful but not necessary.
Candidate has not completed an internship with Hennepin County Library in the past.

Outreach promotes the use of the library by the nontraditional or under-served user through the development and support of programs and services.
The Outreach Department's goal is to bring the experience of the library and its resources to the community - in their homes, senior living facilities, rehabilitation centers, the correctional facilities of the county and through events held at the library.
