This position manages the circulation of all library materials; trains and supervises several work-study students to ensure smooth operation of the circulation desk; provides circulation assistance to patrons and resolves issues pertaining to the circulation of library materials;
ensures that the library is opened and closed on time; proposes and implements circulation policies, guidelines, and procedures; maintains circulation records, patron records, reserve materials, and usage statistics; rotates information desk duties with library staff to provide reference assistance to library users.
Comments: Previous Library experience desired. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. Some travel may be required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, and services of a library; of numerical, alphabetical, and chronological sequences as they apply to library classification systems; understanding of basic record keeping systems; ability to train and supervise; working knowledge of computers, Internet, and Microsoft Excel; skills in using basic reference resources; ability to deal tactfully with others; strong commitment to customer service.
