For those in the MPLA states (Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming), MPLA is finally recognizing that library leaders do not always have an MLS degree and have removed that requirement for attending their Leadership institute.
I would encourage non-MLS leaders in the region to consider this opportunity. MPLA needs to see that support staff are interested and would benefit from the program. I've included the information about the program below.

The application for the Mountain Plains Library Association 2010 Leadership Institute is now online. This 7th MPLA Institute will be held April 25-30 in Estes Park, Colorado. It will again be facilitated by nationally known organizational development consultant Maureen Sullivan.
Anyone employed in a library in the MPLA region with a minimum of 5 years in a library-related job with progressive experience is invited to apply. Education requirements of previous institutes have been removed.
What past participants have said:
-- The Institute was one of the most amazing experiences that I have ever participated in during my lifetime.
-- The most invigorating program I've ever attended
-- I discovered insights about myself that should not only make me a better leader but also a better librarian and a better person.
