Position: Archives Assistant (temporary part-time)
Library: Minneapolis College of Art and Design Library
Description: The Archives Assistant will be supervised by the Archivist and
will work on a variety of tasks such as: -Arranging and describing archival
materials -Creating and entering metadata into an archives content
management database (ArchivesSpace) and a digital repository -Creating
finding aids -Assisting with the creation of a records management plan
-Registering researchers and supervising their use of the College Archives
Minimum Qualifications:
.Ability to lift and move boxes up to 40 lbs.
.Ability to work according to an established schedule
.Attention to detail
.Good communication skills
.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Word and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
.Coursework or work experience related to archives management
.Coursework or work experience related to library and archives software and
databases
.Coursework in 20th century Art History
.Some understanding of historical research methods and approaches
.Interest in archives management or library science
HOURS: approximately 20 hours per week June - December 2013 (preferred) or
30 hours per week late August - December 2013 This temporary position will
be for a total of 632 hours. Work hours will be scheduled during the hours
of 9:00 a.m. 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday
