Job Description:

St. Catherine University is seeking a Temporary Archives Assistant to provide support for the University Archivist and Head of Special Collections from September through December 2011.

Responsibilities: Include processing incoming materials to the Archives and existing materials in the Ade Bethune Collection, assisting users with basic departmental questions, supervising student workers and maintaining access tools for collections.


Qualifications:
Required:
· Bachelor’s degree (liberal arts area preferred).
· Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; attention to detail.
· Excellent computer skills.
· Flexibility and the ability to work independently and attend to multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be able to lift and move 40 lb. boxes.
· The incumbent must have the ability to respond respectfully and effectively to people of all cultures, in a manner that affirms the worth and preserves the dignity of individuals, families and communities.

Preferred:
· Coursework or experience working in an archives and/or special collections department. Knowledge of ArcaSearch and/or CONTENTdm software.
· Supervisory experience.
