Position: Library Technician, Cataloging
Library: Metropolitan State University

Description: Library Technician - This position is responsible for
cataloging Library materials in all formats (books, AV, ebooks, streaming
video, serials, etc.), including batch loading ebook and streaming video
records into the Library catalog and managing monthly updates and deletions.
The incumbent also is responsible for updating the Library's
SerialsSolutions account for ebook and streaming video records. The
incumbent shares responsibility for ensuring that the data in the Library
catalog and other Library discovery tools are up-to-date and accurate to
enable students to succeed in finding and obtaining needed resources.

Minimum Position Qualifications: 
.Working knowledge of library classification system(s) and standard library
reference tools sufficient to assist clients in locating materials and
conducting research. 
.Ability to apply and support detailed coding or cataloging systems
sufficient to create tracking for new print and non-print library
acquisitions and locate and replace existing materials. 
.Ability to operate personal computers, use various software and web-based
applications, and other office equipment sufficient to locate catalog
information, word-process documents, complete forms and prepare reports.

Preferred Qualifications: 
.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university 
.2 years of copy cataloging experience in a library within the past five
years 
.Demonstrated experience using OCLC Connexion Client, Library of Congress
Classification and Subject Headings 
.Strong attention to detail 
.Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing 
.Ability to follow written and oral instructions 
.Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team 
.Experience copy cataloging in an academic library 
.Experience using the Aleph 500 integrated library system 
.Experience loading and managing batch records (vendor-provided MARC
records) 
.Experience using MARCedit software
