Position: Circulation Assistant

Description: 18-20 hours per week; late evenings and weekends.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the circulation supervisor in providing for the effective and efficient operation of the circulation desk. Position: TECHNICAL SERVICES COORDINATOR
Library: Pioneerland Library System
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Coordinates technical services for the Pioneerland Library System and all member libraries, including acquisitions, cataloging, processing, interlibrary loan, delivery, and electronic resources. Pioneerland Library system is a consolidated regional library system with 31 member libraries located in nine counties in west central Minnesota.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Management of technical operations including supervising acquisitions, cataloging, processing, reference, delivery services, and electronic resources.
  • Provide information, training, and technical assistance to library staff.
  • Assists in the development of new policies, procedures, and training as they pertain to technical services.
  • Directs and supervises central services staff including determining work schedules/assignments, selecting/orienting new employees, evaluating job performance and coordinating training programs.
  • Assists library administration with contracts for technical services, and works with outside vendors for provision of technical services and electronic resources.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, fundamentals and approaches to cataloging, library acquisition, delivery, interlibrary loan operations, and electronic resources for libraries. Must possess experience/knowledge of RDA.
  • Skilled in planning, delegating, scheduling, and overseeing functional responsibilities within the library system.
  • Demonstrated organizational and supervisory skills, including (but not limited to) team building, project guidance, and communication.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and be able to adapt communication style to the audience.
  • Ability to manage and balance changing priorities and to easily shift between tasks.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Requires a minimum of a Masters Degree in Library Science and a minimum of one year library administrative experience; or a combination of education, training and experience necessary to perform the requirements of the work.
Three or more years directly related work experience is preferred.
Work environment is in an office setting with occasional travel between libraries.

Library: The Patricia D. Lundborg Cancer Library
Description: The Library: The Patricia D. Lundborg Cancer Library, located within the Cancer Care Center at Regions Hospital, is an excellent resource for those who want to learn more about a cancer diagnosis. Conveniently located near the State Capital in St. Paul, the library is open to anyone in the community and offers a cancer-related consumer health collection of over 1000 books and videos that may be checked out for three weeks. Online resources are also available. The library is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The library relies on volunteers to greet and assist library visitors as they search for health information.

Position: Assistant Director
Library: Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative
Description: The Traverse des Sioux Library Cooperative, a multicounty regional library system serving all types of libraries in south-central Minnesota and headquartered in Mankato, welcomes applications for the position of Assistant Director. The Assistant Director reports to and works in conjunction with the Executive Director on all administrative tasks, but has particular responsibility for Communications, Day-to-day Operations and acts as a liaison to School, Academic and Special libraries. Description: LIBRARY DIRECTOR
The City of Black River Falls Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking applicants for an upcoming Library Director vacancy. The Library Director plans, directs, and coordinates all library fiscal, operational and personnel activities to achieve the Library's mission, goals and objectives within the context of community needs and priorities. A candidate with strong leadership skills will lead the library through a remodeling project and supervise a staff of ten part-time employees.
As a member of the Winding Rivers Library System, Black River Falls Public Library, Wisconsin's first public library, is the largest library in Jackson County which includes a 20,000 population service area. Black River Falls is located off I-94 halfway between Madison and Minneapolis.
Responsibilities:
The Library Director is responsible to the Library Board of Directors for administration of the library operation, including:
  • the hiring and retention of staff;
  • development and maintenance of collections of print and non-print materials and access to online resources;
  • maintenance and improvement of physical plant, equipment, and grounds;
  • planning for ongoing program development;
  • budgeting and financial management;
  • communication and working relationships with City and County governments;
  • communication with the public and groups, as requested, and with the media;
  • liaison with other libraries and agencies relevant to the delivery of library services
Qualifications: Must have a Masters Degree in Library Science (MLS) from an ALA accredited institution and be eligible for a Grade 1 Public Library Certification through Wisconsin DPI. Preferred: five years of increasingly responsible public library administrative experience, including management of library staff and demonstrated experience in providing leadership.
Salary: $45,000 - $50,000 including excellent benefits. This is a full-time position.
