Scope of work:
Students are typically assigned to perform the following:
- Service desk assistance to students, faculty and staff
- Check material in and out
- Help with basic printing, copying and technical support
- Answer questions
- Collection and library maintenance
- Shelve books
- Inventory collection
- Clean
- Technical services
- Process new books and other collection materials
- Update or withdraw currently owned items
Preferred qualifications:
We will most seriously consider students with any of the following:
- Ability to work morning, weekend, and/or evening shifts
- Customer service experience

Job Description:
This
is a part-time position (.4 FTE) that is responsible for the
organization, management and promotion of The Blake School’s archives.
The archive collections include artifacts, audio & visual
recordings, photographs, publications and records. The archives also
houses the permanent student records from the current school, as well as
its predecessor institutions.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Respond
to requests for information and/or access to materials from a variety
of constituents, including administrators, faculty, staff, trustees,
alumni, students, families and external parties.
- Collaborate
with staff from other departments and divisions to ensure that student
records and student records requests are properly managed.
- Receive donations and actively solicit and acquire materials appropriate for permanent retention.
- Process existing materials to ensure proper storage and ease of access.
- Establish and maintain an electronic inventory/cataloging system.
- Share items from the archives by creating displays and composing content for print and web publications.
- Facilitate access to the digitized yearbook collection.
- Manage a small budget for archival supplies.
- Develop and implement a plan to use volunteers to assist with archives work.
- Ensure that the archives space is organized, safe and clean.
- Initiate
and complete special projects as needed related to preservation,
digitization, record retention, school history, alumni relations, etc.

Position Title Evening Reference Assistant

The Evening Reference Assistant is a part-time position that will staff the reference desk during Sunday-Thursday evening shifts, providing research assistance to library users in-person and via electronic communication.

Position: Associate II (Cataloger)

Under general supervision, this position exists to perform cataloging functions that maintain the efficient flow of materials through Technical Services.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent in training and proven work experience.

- Accurate typing skills required.
Qualifications:

- Knowledge of standard cataloging practice and resource tools, including but not limited to LC, RDA, ANSCR, Bibliographic Formats and Standards, LCGFT; the use and interpretation of MARC 21 and Dewey Classification; the ability to catalog all library materials accordingly; identify and report errors and problems to OCLC.
- Ability to meet standard of copy cataloging 10-12 items per hour with a low error rate.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the OCLC product Connexion Client for cataloging; design, creation and implementation of macros for cataloging efficiency; capable of deriving new records using Connexion work forms; familiarity with batch uploading.
- Knowledge of and familiarity with WebDewey and the RDA Toolkit.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff, the MORE consortium staff and the public.
- Ability to work accurately with attention to detail.
- Ability and initiative to work independently and efficiently with minimal direction.

Job Description:
The Senior Library Information Assistant works under the supervision
of a Circulation Supervisor or Cluster Manager or under direction of
the Assistant Circulation Supervisor. Provides customer service to the
public by checking out and checking in Library materials, receiving and
recording fees and fines, answering phones and greeting visitors,
sorting and shelving returned and new Library materials, preparing and
mending Library materials for circulation, responding to policy and
procedure questions from public, coworkers and other departments, and
performing related duties. Assist customers in use of Library
facilities and equipment. As a lead worker, can provide work direction
to other circulation staff and library volunteers, assist with training,
and perform high level circulation tasks including financial reports,
statistical collection and staff calendar maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Two years experience working with the public in an office or retail setting
- PC knowledge
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two years of Library experience

Duties and Responsibilities:

- Adapt to procedures at various branch settings.
- Input private data into borrower registration file and issue

- Train Sr. Information Assistants, Sub. Info. Assistants,
Shelvers, and Shelving Assistants in circulation processes, policies,
and building orientation.
Essential Job Functions: Duties 1-9 are essential functions.
Work Environment: Work is performed within a County office
building. Operation of office equipment such as personal computers,
telephone, adding machine, photocopier and fax machines. Lifting
requirement of up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis, pulling and/or
pushing book carts, exerting force up to 50 pounds. Frequent wrist and
finger manipulation due to high concentration of filing, compiling,
calculating or computer work.
