Preservation Internship – Fall

Location:  Minneapolis Central Library, 300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Position
The Preservation team with Hennepin County Library plays a vital role in ensuring the long-term viability of the Library’s print collections through repair and restoration measures, book binding and other preservation methods.  Preservation also performs a consulting function to staff on preservation matters.

This unpaid internship is from September - December, 2013 up to 160 hours. It can be used for college credit or work experience.

Primary Duties and responsibilities include:
·      Perform preservation bookbinding
·      Construct preservation enclosures for library materials
·      Perform simple mending of library materials
·      Process library materials including some clerical work

Best Qualified Candidates will:
·      Have attention to detail and good manual dexterity
·      Coursework and/or experience in book preservation helpful
·      Have not had an internship with Hennepin County Library in the past
